The Twitter account of Midland’s (the kingdom from Berserk, not the city in Texas) Head of public relations, Clara de Porras (pictured left), has revealed some new information about the upcoming adaptation of Kentaro Miura’s Berserk manga. The first movie, which hits Japanese theatres in January 2012, will be titled Berserk Golden Age Arc I: Egg of the Supreme Ruler, and will be the first in a trilogy which will adapt the Golden Age arc of the manga. This is good news for anyone who for some reason might have been worried that they would try to cover too much material with one movie.
The Golden Age arc of Berserk tells the story of Guts from when he was a baby discovered under the hanged corpse of his mother by a group of mercenaries to when he first meets Griffith and ends up joining the Band of the Hawks, and his further adventures with that group. The Golden Age arc had previously been adapted into a 25 episode series that aired from 1997 to 1998, though that adaptation left out several important details.
