Summer 2011 First Impressions: Idolmaster

Idolmaster

Synopsis: So there are like these idols, and they do idol stuff I guess.

Thoughts: I’m pretty sure Idolmaster is the reason Kentaro Miura keeps putting Berserk on hiatus since he’s apparently a fan of the games and can’t stop playing them, so I’m obligated to hate it. Also it’s boring as balls. Like really boring. It’s a bunch of cookie-cutter personalities being interviewed by a silent cameraman and giving cookie-cutter responses to completely mundane questions with interspersed scenes of wacky hijinks. I only managed to get through 15 minutes of the episode before just giving up. It’s just a parade of every single female archetype you can think of in some attempt to appeal to every single otaku out there, with nothing to actually make it worth watching.

Score: 1/5

  1. This is WAY better than the mech/action/drama thing they went for the last time they tried to make Idolm@ster into an anime series. So… I still have hope for this. It’s just… I’ve invested so much into the games!

It’s too bad you didn’t catch the last 2 minutes for the TWIST, though.

  2. Yeah, the TWIST was SUPER COOL and AWESOME and AMAZING and now all fat otaku wanting to be the cameramen are busy jumping off buildings BUT THEY AREN’T DYING BECAUSE THEY’RE TOO FAT

    …yeah.
