Summer 2011 First Impressions: YuruYuri

A Channel YuruYuri

Plot Synopsis: A bunch of cute high school middle school girls who eat food and talk and whatever.

Thoughts: A Channel YuruYuri is pretty much the most hilarious and original anime ever. It’s a comedy series about cute high school middle school girls doing a bunch of stuff, and really I don’t know why there aren’t more of these because it’s pretty much the best thing ever. Anyway, it opens up with a hilarious joke about how the air-headed girl forgot it was their first day of middle school and made everyone late for school. “We’re gonna be late aren’t we?” “Yeah, we’re gonna be late.” That is GOLDEN comedy writing folks. Even better, there’s this one girl who really likes some magical girl show and draws doujinshi of it and stuff, and then this girl who looks just like the main character from the magic girl show joins their school club, and the other girl is always trying to get in her pants.

Don’t even get me started on what an amazing character Run  Akari is. She’s kind of an air-headed girl, always being oblivious to stuff and doing dumb things and falling asleep being late for class. Towards the end During club activities one of the girls says they should all go get some tea decides to make tea, but we never actually only get to see them drinking tea for a little bit. I was kind of disappointed. I mean, cute girls drinking tea? That should have just been the entire episode. Oh well, maybe next time. If you don’t watch A Channel YuruYuri you’re pretty much the biggest idiot ever.

Score: 5/5

YuruYuri is streaming on Crunchyroll
